Lesson Five: Points & Informal Outline

1. Points. Why is your reason a good reason? In other words, what are your points for believing your reason is good? This is the same as saying, "I believe this (reason) is good because........".

Presentation portfolio: Brainstorm some good points in support of each of your reasons.

2. Choose your three (3) strongest points for each reason. Discuss your ideas with a friend & ask them which points they think are the strongest.

Presentation portfolio: Highlight in a different color your three (3) best points.

3. Start to develop your informal outline. Presentation portfolio:
Start to develop an informal outline. An informal outline organises your thinking about the topic. An informal outline is a 'working' document to which information can be continuously added or deleted & reorganised as your understanding develops. Follow carefully the structure of the sample informal outline here & in your presentation portfolio. Add your thesis, reasons, & points to the informal outline.
